Why I Love Rock Band

The other night we got to party with the kids. We got Rock Band for Christmas and it's made us very popular in the aunt and uncle department. We were looking forward to doing something fun, but all they wanted to do was this:

Amy and Chris don't have cable. They don't have MTV or Cartoon Network... so I want to know how they know how to do this:

P1060947

...or this...

P1060944

...or this...

P1060946

...or this...

P1060943

...or this...

P1060940

...or this...

I have to say I was pleased and a little proud that these kids are somehow just gleaning "rock" from the universe... through osmosis.

Shine on you crazy diamonds.

it's the angry white kid face. we, as caucasians, are entitled to use it anytime we are attempting to find music in our souls. because being white, finding that part of your soul can sometimes hurt. do you ever see black people make that face? you do not. because they have soul. they don't have to try so hard to find it. it doesn't hurt.

Rock on. I believe it must float around in the atmosphere...the spirit of Rock n Roll. It something that kids just know, like how to suck their thumb or throw a fit...it's just part of the universe. I wish that we were there to rock out too.

Oh my glorious, spectacular, "rock-on" kids! How I love every single ounces of their wild spirits and their "rock-n-roll" natures. Truly, there is no logical explanation. They have never seen a music video, I listen to the most mellow music EVER (except when we go wild to Abba) and no one in this family plays the guitar or drums or even sings unusually well. It truly is oozing from their souls. Interesting...think we could make a buck or two with a touring family group?

Carrie, I'm so jealous you have Rock Band. Next time I visit I'm all over that one.

And somehow kids just pick up on things and we have no idea how. Like when Ethan started liking Power Rangers, or Superman - I never knew he knew they existed. It was weird.

That's awsome!! We are 100% addicted to Guitar Hero and Rock Band here in our house. Aside from the fact we are oozing with lots of loud music and have seen far too much t.v. -- it is just in the kids dna to "rock out" with all over, full body, complete intensity. The makers of these games are treasures (they have rock band extra track games :o). Tons of new songs...he he he.
Thank for posting the fun pix!

I love those kids! They learn that stuff from watching their mom rock out in the front seat of the minivan. :)

You are truly the cool aunt. I had a cool aunt growing up and she made my growing up years so much more fun. You rock (pun intended.)

We love rock band, too. Our kids get totally into it, and at the end, Dylan has to scream, "I am the MAN!" Go Rock Band!
