Quiet Pets

I've had enough. I cannot stand Fiona's barking. We've been through two bark collars already and it's time for number three. I realize that she can't help it. She LOVES the sound of her own glorious bark. The more ferocious the better. She bristles, she tears down the stairs (messing up the rug at the bottom of the stairs everytime) and jumps up on the window to make a visual and to make sure the person at the door KNOWS that SHE knows that you're invading HER territory. Stupid dog. It's MY terrritory, and I'm not barking! Cesar the dog whisperer himself couldn't break this tragic display of ferocity.

So I went to PetsMart and looked for bark collars. While standing at the locked electronic training display, I noticed a little girl holding a little Betta fish in a cup. I immediately noticed how quiet her new pet was. I got the new shock collar and walked right over to the fish displays and wieghed my options. I found a cute purple tank with purple rocks and a little green suction-cup plant (all in one package for $8.99!) and chose a red fish so he would stand out against all that purple. My new fish's name is Solomon, because he is "...arrayed like Solomon in all his glory...". And he's quiet. Fiona might be quiet if I put her under water, but I wouldn't bet on it without the bark collar.

Oh dear, dear me. Thank you for reminding me why we're holding off on pets of the loud variety. :) I hope Fiona knows how well-tolerated she has been by you two. I hope there is pay-back from all of the animals we've cared for in the afterlife. You deserve a seriously large and quiet mansion.

And welcome to the family, Solomon! What a delightful name for a fish. I hope we get to see his picture soon.

We like "fone-a". She was so nice and quiet with her new collar...but those big eyes, staring at us as if to say "help me, they think I'm just a dog". What's a human to do? Solomon was lovely. Is it inhumane to pull bark collars on children?

Oh, welcome to the family dear Solomon. I just hope my kids don't kill you off on their first visit. Fiona may be loud but I don't worry about someone trying to hold her against her will or dropping something large and un-fish like into her living habitat!

I can't wait to meet the new addition. Poor Fiona. Let's find her a good home, shall we? She needs a single woman who would love a watch dog! (I would be interested to see what Cesar would do with her...)

oh, how funny...we just bought a beta this weekend. He's a brilliant blue color. We named him Zafiro...which is Sapphire in Spanish.

Good luck Solomon. Heaven help Fiona. If that dog doesn't earn you two your way into heaven, nothing will. She is very pretty though... when she is not nipping at my crotch.

I've been feeling your pain lately...our newest edition, dutchess, has been in heat...usually our cats are pretty quiet. We've been up all night listening to her meow. We even tried earplugs..so sad..I'm sorry your dog isn't playing nice either.

Now you're going to have a house that smells like fish and sounds like a dog pound. Step 3 is the "independent cat" stage. Prepare now for hacked up hairballs.

Is the title "Quiet Pets" synonymous with "quiet" or SILENT blogger?

hi, it's me! melissa c said...

That is TOO funny! I have the same problem with my dog and I swear I'm going to kill her. She is also a submissive pee-er which is worse that the barking!

Long story short, she lived outside now in a kennel with Duke and sleeps in the garage!

Hi Carrie-
I found your blog through "Yolanda's" blog. So fun to find so many ward member's blogs.

I can feel your pain BTW with your dog...our dog is the nemesis of the neighborhood, I am pretty sure. The bark collar worked for a while, and now it doesn't faze him at all. :(

I love your post about dog collar. I also use dog collar to correct some of my pet's unwanted behavior. One of my disliked behavior of my pet is his excessive dog barking.

I also use dog collar to correct one of my pet's disliked behavior which is too much dog barking. So my sister gave me a new dog collar and asked to try it on.
