The Possible Future Me...

"This is the best thing to wear for today, you understand. Because I don't like women in skirts and the best thing is to wear pantyhose or some pants under a short skirt, I think. Then you have the pants under the skirt and then you can pull the stockings up over the pants underneath the skirt. And you can always take off the skirt and use it as a cape. So I think this is the best costume for today".
Edie Beale

Watching the Maysles brothers' documentary "Grey Gardens" tonight was interesting... hilarious... enlightening... scary. I felt like I was coming home; to an alternate universe. I saw the alternate ending to my life: I am an aging, decaying, impoverished aristocrat decomposing in my self-made prison, except that my mom is way nicer to me.

I laughed, I cried, I felt their anxiety over their filth. I applauded Little Edie in her "staunch" wearing of the scarf to conceal her alopecia, and her constant wearing of her swimming suit (I can SO relate!).

It was just a precious moment in my life. I wanted to share. Net Flix this documentary right now.

Who are these people and WHAT are you talking about?? I'm so confused
I stand (sit, actually) intrigued.

I'm a little frightened...I'm with Katy...who ARE these people? And I'm staunchly against wearing a swimsuit all the time. I'll have to put my foot down with you on that one. I watched yet another episode of Pokemon last night...you are WAY more cultured than I am.

Is this a documentary about people who own 25 cats or something? I'm also confused. Maybe you can explain it to me in small words in person. Anyway, I don't see you in any of those images and I'd never be mean to you, I promise.

I just gave in to the Netflix craze and I LOVE IT. So I think I WILL add it to my list, right now...right after Popeye and The Happiest Millionaire.
Is this documentary going to make me feel crazy? Cuz I don't want that.

I am sooooo excited--I just moved it to number one in my que BEFORE I came to your site...who knew I would find such a treat here. Ok, how do I say this nicely? I could TOTALLY see you having this as an alternate ending type thing. yOU ARE THAT COOL...the fact that she calls her daily get-up a costume is AWESOME...let alone the descrpition of the outfit. Holy Cow I can't wait! Giddy. You may need to explain this to people though. If Mo doesn't know who they are not many people will, I think.

I don't mean to spam your blog, but when you and Todd were up at Yellowstone you mentioned you were looking for a good vacation spot and I mentioned my aunt's beach resort down in Mexico. If you're still interested, you can check out the web site at mayanbeachgarden.com. Sherstin and I went there for our honeymoon and loved it.

Just here to say I check every day to see if you've posted. I guess you could take that one of two ways: 1) I'm a creepy stalker. OR 2) I miss your posts and I am not a creepy stalker.

(Correct answer: #2)
